Heading to South Africa

After flying from Rome to London then London to Johannesburg we had another 13hrs under our belt, pretty tired and slept a lot of the London to Sth Africa leg, arriving at about 9am this morning. Easy to get through Johannesburg airport and picked up our transfer to our hotel which wasn't too far away, and absolutely fantastic accommodation - thank you Karen Kelly! Our initial room wasn't ready so we were upgraded to a higher star room so we could check in, and the staff were fantastic. We did a bit of house keeping, freshened up then went on a discovery around the reseort, ending up having an early dinner inTides Restaurant which was absolutely phenomenal! John had a rib eye on the bone for AUS$19 and I had a fillet steak for AUS$15, plus half a dozen oysters for a song! Wonderful service and plenty of beer and wine to go with our meal and we'd have to say its up there for one of the best steaks we've had.
So after waddling out of dinner we stumbled across a Casino! Kaching! Beers for AUS $1.25 - crazy! Had a bit of a win there which was a bonus and are now relaxing having a scotch before hitting the sack. A wonderful first day here in Sth Africa and everyone is so welcoming.  We head off at lunchtime tomorrow to the game reserve in the Kruger National Park, and must say we are pretty excited about what's to come.
Very limited internet here, so may not be up to date for a few days.
