OFF WE GO,

Well I've finally started! After a 2.15am pick up we left Brisbane and arrived in Dubai for a couple of hour stop over. It was only 43 deg outside, so luckily we didn't have to leave the airport! John bought us a Corona and a glass of bubbles which equated to AUS$57 we nearly passed out! We then went to another bar and realised that John had actually asked for a champagne so of course they gave him Moët, so the next round wasn't quite so expensive with Prosecco and a Asahi!
We were able to sleep a bit then on the flight to Rome but took an hour and a half to get through the passport check! What a nightmare! Very little organisation, and then we thought it would take forever to get through customs, but there was a sign that just asked "Nothing to claim - exit" and that was it! Thankfully our transport hadn't deserted us and we arrived at our hotel right near the Trevi fountain exhausted after a huge day!
Woke up next morning and chatted out the window to Paul and Sandra in the hotel across the cobblestones street - fantastic! Then Karen and Mick gave us a quick tour of our Rome neighbourhood after brekkie and before it got too busy. So beautiful of course! Met the others at the train station and took the speed train at 300km p/h to Naples! Fantastic! Arrived in the chaotic city where Dave and Rob and Kerry and PJ met us and off we went to Positano!
The drive was beautiful the closer we got to the Amalfi Coast of course and arrived at our fantastic Villa and started to totally unwind. Our host Giovani organised food, Prosecco and beer to be delivered so we reluctantly hit the pool and ate, drank, sang, danced and laughed into the evening! Soaking in the amazing view from the Villa. What an amazing first day/night!

  1. Just started reading your blog. Got home today after 25 hrs of travel. Fantastic view of Treviso fountain from your room. Can't get better than that.
